Dr. Thornton is a medical doctor who specializes in Internal Medicine, the medical care of adults.
He is a native of San Antonio. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin before moving to Galveston where he graduated from The University of Texas Medical Branch. He stayed in Galveston for his residency before returning to San Antonio. He has practiced General Internal Medicine for 25 years. Initially he was in a group practice, but on January 1, 2003 he started a solo practice focusing on personalized medical care.
Dr. Thornton is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he serves as a preceptor for third and fourth year medical students. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and was recently named a Top Doc by his alma mater UTMB for his work precepting fourth year students.
Dr. Thornton is married and has two children.
